A short history of the chore coat

A short history of the chore coat

The chore coat was drawn up in the 1880s for labourers and railwaymen: three patch pockets, a plain collar, a cloth that could be boiled.

Ours keeps the three pockets and changes the cloth, to a cotton and linen canvas woven in Lancashire that softens the way denim does.

How to wear it

Over a shirt in spring, over a hoodie in autumn, under a wool coat in January. It is the piece our customers send back least.
