Why Donegal tweed is never one colour

Why Donegal tweed is never one colour

Look closely at the Ardara coat and you will find rust, gold, heather and a green close to black. None of it is printed or dyed in. The colour is spun into the yarn as small knots of fleece, called neps.

The mill we work with has woven in Ardara since 1866. They still blend the neps by eye.

What that means for your coat

No two lengths are identical, so no two coats are. We number each one inside the left pocket.
